Sustainability
For over five generations, our family has worked hand in hand with the land, adapting to change while caring for the environment and community that sustain us.
We are committed to ensuring our farm continues to thrive for future generations,
because when we look after the land, it looks after us.
What we are doing:
Recycle
We make sure nothing goes to waste by giving everything a second life.
-
Cardboard boxes that can’t be reused go to a local composting farm, creating rich soil for vegetable gardens.
-
Bottles and cans are recycled through Anson Street School, helping fund their environmental programs.
-
Second-grade fruit that can’t be used for jam or juice is happily enjoyed by our sheep.
Reuse
We’re always finding creative ways to repurpose materials around the farm.
-
Cardboard boxes are reused in the farm shop for customers to take their fruit home.
-
Egg cartons are given to Anson Street School to use for seedling trays.
-
Old orchard trellis posts and netting have been repaired and reused in new plantings.
Better Choices
We’re reducing our footprint by choosing cleaner, smarter options.
-
Plastic bags and punnets have been replaced with biodegradable and fibre alternatives.
-
Solar power now runs much of our farm, with battery storage planned for the future.
-
Energy-efficient heat pump systems have replaced traditional electric hot water.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
We protect our crops and the environment through balanced, thoughtful pest control.
-
Monitoring traps help us target treatments only when needed.
-
Pheromone traps attract and contain pests to small areas.
-
Spraying is timed to minimise harm to beneficial insects.
Community
We believe sustainability extends beyond the land — it’s also about nurturing the people and community around us.
-
We host Boys from the Bush trainees, building skills and connection.
-
Partnering with Anson Street School, we sell their produce and support hands-on learning.
-
Donations of fruit to local schools, charities, and community programs.
